چکیده

Under increasing pressure, the Néel temperature of the heavy-fermion compound Ce7Ni3 ~TN51.9 K for P50! decreases and vanishes near Pc'0.33 GPa. Non-Fermi-liquid behavior appears at 0.4 GPa in both the specific heat and ac magnetic susceptibilitiy, Cm /T;2lnT and xac}(12aT ). Above 0.62 GPa, the normal Fermi-liquid state recovers, as indicated by the T independence of CmT and the T 2 dependence of the magnetic resistivity. The observed crossover with pressure is described by self-consistent renormalization theory of spin fluctuations ~SF! in terms of the characteristic SF temperature T0 which increases by a factor of 20 for 0.33<P<0.75 GPa. @S0163-1829~97!51502-5#

Transition from magnetic to nonmagnetic ground state in a heavy-fermion compound Ce7Ni3 under high pressure.

The electrical resistivity and ac magnetic susceptibility of the heavy-fermion compound Ce7Ni3 were measured in the temperature range from 0.4 to 300 K and in the pressure range up to 1.5 GPa. The Néel temperature of 1.9 K for antiferromagnetic transition at ambient pressure decreases with increasing pressure and vanishes at about 0.33 GPa. The magnetic resistivity, rm5r~Ce7Ni3)-r(La7Ni3), decr...

Field-induced quantum fluctuations in the heavy fermion superconductor CeCu2Ge2

Quantum-mechanical fluctuations in strongly correlated electron systems cause unconventional phenomena such as non-Fermi liquid behavior, and arguably high temperature superconductivity. Here we report the discovery of a field-tuned quantum critical phenomenon in stoichiometric CeCu(2)Ge(2), a spin density wave ordered heavy fermion metal that exhibits unconventional superconductivity under ≃10...

Quasiparticles and quantum phase transition in universal low - temperature properties of heavy - fermion metals

– We demonstrate, that the main universal features of the low temperature experimental H − T phase diagram of CeCoIn5 and other heavy-fermion metals can be well explained using Landau paradigm of quasiparticles. The main point of our theory is that above quasi-particles form so-called fermion-condensate state, achieved by a fermion condensation quantum phase transition (FCQPT). When a heavy fer...

This paper is concerned with the weak-moment magnetism in heavy-fermion materials and its relation to the non-Fermi liquid physics observed near the transition to the Fermi liquid. We explore the hypothesis that the primary fluctuations responsible for the non-Fermi liquid physics are those associated with the destruction of the large Fermi surface of the Fermi liquid. Magnetism is suggested to...

Tuning the dimensionality of the heavy fermion compound CeIn3.

Condensed-matter systems that are both low-dimensional and strongly interacting often exhibit unusual electronic properties. Strongly correlated electrons with greatly enhanced effective mass are present in heavy fermion compounds, whose electronic structure is essentially three-dimensional. We realized experimentally a two-dimensional heavy fermion system, adjusting the dimensionality in a con...
